Joe Ciriello is DocXellent’s Business Development Manager and resident nature enthusiast. In this development role, he works on sales expansion in the private, public, and government sectors, growing the organization one sale at a time. He also assists other departments with ongoing projects.
Before coming onboard at DocXellent, Joe worked at Benny’s retail store from the time he was 16. While in college, he also had a markedly curious job working for the Connecticut State Museum of Natural History. The state archeology center was based in the museum, so it wasn’t uncommon to see archeologists assessing full skeletons on the conference room table. When he graduated college, he was offered a job as a merchandise buyer at their corporate headquarters in Esmond, RI. Under this role, he was an automotive, hardware, housewares, and seasonal buyer until the chain closed its doors. From there, he worked as a buyer at a school supply company until the pandemic began.
Joe joined the DocXellent sales team in May of 2020 and credits his social skills and ability to connect with virtually anyone for his successes. He is also very good at asking questions, information gathering, organization, and time management. He’s constantly looking to optimize time and processes to further improve efficiency. This is especially interesting since Joe went from one side of the desk to the other, from a buyer at Benny’s to a seller on our team. It was a massive career change for him, but he appreciates that it allowed him to apply the skills he acquired in college through his Economics and Professional Sales Leadership degree. Joe says that his favorite parts of being a member of our team are “the comradery with my colleagues, the work life balance, and being able to watch the company grow, day by day.”
Outside of work, Joe loves outdoor activities and traveling. He considers himself to be a very outdoorsy person, not matter the season. In the winter he’s an avid snowboarder. In the summer you can find him camping, backpacking, hiking, downhill mountain biking, and kayaking, usually in Vermont, New Hampshire, or Western Massachusetts. His favorite place he’s ever traveled however is Cuba, where he did a week-long, guided tour in 2018 that covered half of the country, from the cities to the mountainous national parks.
As Joe moves forward in his career, he has three major goals he wants to accomplish in the next ten years: continue his success in gaining new customers, help the company continue to grow substantially, and for DocXellent to penetrate more markets in different industries. So far, Joe cites his greatest accomplishment during his time on our team as landing one of DocXellent’s largest South Asian customers. With his dedication to success, it seems poignant that Joe’s favorite inspirational quote is “Success is not final; failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.”
With his passion for sales, his knowledge of the ENSUR document management software, and his dedication to helping companies find their best fit for document control, he’s a true asset to both our company as well as our current and future customers. We can’t wait to see the amazing things Joe accomplishes in his future at DocXellent.
